Professional photo shoot

When Landon was almost 2 weeks old, we did a professional photo shoot with Amy Ellert from Into Wishin Photography. Amy came to our house and set up a portrait session in our living room. She was great with Landon!  He was surprisingly cooperative - especially considering that he hates being cold.  Here are my favorite photos from the shoot,

Landon's first Easter

We went to Aunt Barb and Uncle Barry's house for Easter.  Everyone enjoyed meeting Landon, and he was very well behaved!

Week 1

Week 1 had a lot of sleepy days, and not-so-sleepy nights.  My mom stayed at our house for the week ... Which was a huge help!

We went to the pediatrician at the end of his first week.  He weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces (back to his birth weight), and was 20.75 inches long.

Landon and Brian watched the OSU final four game (Landon slept through most of it!)

First bath! Definitely not enjoyable for the little guy!

Hospital stay

Landon was born on Wednesday morning, and we were in the hospital until Friday afternoon.  Overall, we had a nice stay ... And the doctors and nurses were great.  There was tons of poking and prodding from doctors, nurses, residents, breathing specialists, food delivery, housekeeping, etc., etc., etc, all hours of the day and night.  It was definitely chaotic!

My parents, Raina, and Janice were visiting the first day.  Brian's parents and Kelly and Mike stopped by to visit a few times. Keith and Mandi also came by to meet the little guy!

They made us keep a detailed diary of his feedings, pee, and poop.  Although he peed a couple of times right when he was born, he didn't pee all day Thursday or Friday morning.  We were getting worried, and were about ready to do an ultrasound to check for blockages. Then ... He pee'd!!!  :) It was pretty funny how excited we were!  Immediately after we saw the wet diaper, they released us to go home.

You should have seen us driving home.  We literally live less than 2 miles from the hospital (no highways) ... and we were so scared!

Here are some photos from the hospital,

Labor and delivery

I would say that my labor and delivery was "interesting".  It wasn't painful, it was just a long and non-typical day and a half!  The day before my due date, I went to the doctors office for an ultrasound and checkup.  During the exam, the midwife accidentally broke my water! They kept me in the doctors office for about an hour, and then they instructed me to get some lunch and go to the hospital.  Brian and I were all checked into our hospital room at Bethesda North by 1 pm.  At 3pm, they induced me, since the labor wasn't progressing.  The pain got pretty bad at 5pm ... So, I asked for an epidural.  It was definitely a lifesaver!  At that point, the waiting began.  At some point during the evening, the baby started showing distress due to the contractions, so, they stopped the pitocin.  Without the pitocin, my labor stopped progressing.  We waited all night, but it still didn't progress.  I also developed a low grade fever, that the midwife was worried about.  At 6 am, they decided to do a c-section - and I was completely ready!  Beautiful Landon was born at 7:10 AM!

He was not breathing great when he was born ... And I am told his color was a little blue.  But he quickly returned to normal.

The c-section was a strange experience. I felt like I wasn't really in my own body.  My teeth were chattering and I had the shakes really bad.  I could hear everything going on around me, but it didn't really feel like it was happening to me.  The worst part was that I wasn't able to hold him until about an hour after the surgery when the shaking went away.
